Provitaz Agrivoltaic Project – Gulestan, Uzbekistan
Provitaz has successfully completed and commissioned a pioneering 50 kW agrivoltaic project in Gulestan, Uzbekistan. The system uses transparent bifacial solar panels that provide approximately 70% shading, creating a cooler microclimate that protects crops, reduces water evaporation, and enhances land productivity while delivering clean renewable energy.
A core innovation of the project is the locally developed and manufactured mounting structure, engineered and produced in Uzbekistan. The design eliminates the need for concrete foundations, making the installation faster, more cost-efficient, and environmentally friendly, while strengthening local industrial capacity. The structure has been calculated for 25 m/s wind loads and 1.5 kN/m² snow loads, ensuring high reliability and durability under regional climate conditions.
This project is a first-of-its-kind agrivoltaic model in Central Asia, demonstrating how integrated solar and agriculture can advance food security, renewable energy, and rural development in Uzbekistan and beyond.
